PISTOL COMPLEX
Generally shooters “specialise” in one of the broad types of pistol shooting.
You don’t have to specialise, but we are unashamedly a competitive club, and this leads most to take up one kind of shooting at a time. You will, over time, obtain the gear and undertake the training we offer for a discipline, and may (or may not) want to move on to other types of Pistol Shooting we offer
IPSC
Several individual stages with paper and reactive targets, shot drawing from a holster, and involving movement and problem solving. Large-capacity semi-automatic pistols. Competition twice weekly with significant matches every 4 weeks. Speed and accuracy needed.
ISSF
International Sport Shooting Federation is the Olympic-style event involving accuracy, using air pistols, .22 calibre or centre fire pistols. Paper targets at various ranges to 50 metres. Competition and training weekly. Precision event with little or no time pressure.
3 Gun & Multigun
Practical shooting discipline where stages are shot with a combination of a rifle, handgun, and/or shotgun.
The shooter must move through different stages and engage targets in a variety of different positions.
The rifle complex
The 100m rifle range is supervised by qualified range officers who also offer both coaching and advise should it be required.
The rifle range operates between 10.00am and 3.00pm on Saturdays with three shooting bays. (No new shooters after 12:30pm or at range officers’ discretion). Capacity is limited, time limits apply subject to numbers of users requiring range use.
Range officers may inspect firearms suspected as being unsafe. Rifles not previously sighted MUST be initially shot at 25m to be sure of the cone of fire.
Any shooter in doubt as to the sighting of their rifle should also begin at 25m.

Target ammunition is available for purchase at the clubrooms at a reasonable charge. Should you bring your own shotgun ammunition it must be “target” loads, #7, #7½, #8 or #9 steel shot. No field loads are permitted.
There are shotguns and ammunition available for use on public days and corporate events.
Ammunition will not be sold without presentation of a current firearms licence.
